With the National launch of THE CANADIAN SHIELD Ski and Snowboard tour our management team is at an offsite all day today to sharpen our skills in the world of risk assessment. Following the completion of today’s course we will be certified to conduct the J Smarts Circle Check sessions and be able to certify J Smarts instructors within our organization. The “Circle Check” teaches participants to think for themselves and manage risk as opposed to fostering safety through fear and/or avoidance….

With the recent launch of Disney XD in Canada (June 2011) we’ve seen DisneyXD support numerous Canadian Action Sport opportunities; West49LRN2SK8 and the launch of The Canadian Shield Ski and Snowboard Tour to name a few.

With their brand building initiatives, together we have launched ‘Disney XD Drops In’ which will see the host, @CoultonConway, drop in with five professional athletes throughout Canada.  Here’s the first tease as seen on DisneyXD…check DisneyXD.ca for more info and prizing opportunities from our great brand partners; Billabong, RIDE, Vonzipper, Element and West 49.

Be sure to check out the channel and watch for our first produced tease dropping mid-December…

We absolutely love that the celebratory memories of this Central American surf trip are not dying!  Skin, Matt Forsythe, logged some serious time with camera in hand and more importantly has the ability to eloquently capture the experience had by 22 compadre’s…..(PS our friends at PROAM are currently sleeping in our beds and slashing our waves) actually the place is more theirs than ours but still it feels like a turf war…HIGHLIGHTS

Come visit us this Saturday November 5th at Yonge & Dundas Square as we support McDonald’s with their onsite activation of the 25 Year Anniversary of the Rick Hansen Man In Motion World Tour.  Twenty-five years ago Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour commenced its historic cross-Canada journey of hope. A hope that could inspire the world and realize the dream of raising millions of dollars for spinal cord injury research, making communities more accessible and inclusive and changing the way we look at the potential of people with disabilities.  RickHansenRelay

After receiving the nod from our friends at K2 Canada back in August we are now deep in the preparation stages of the 5th annual Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series® with the hopes of raising $75,000 to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. In year one, 175 participants entered and with yearly growth we have set our goal to host 750 participants for year five! Since inception more than $100,000 has been raised by TRTS Ontario for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation!

Have you thought about putting a team together and running (or walking) through the trails of Collingwood’s Scenic Caves?  If not – then plan to do so on January 21, 2012

More info can be found www.TUBBSROMPTOSTOMP.com or registering HERE.

Seven days go too quickly when you’re in paradise!  The group have all booked their departure shuttles and we’ve clanged our final celebratory glasses.  This past week was in celebration of Jon Versteeg and Gillian Andrewshenko taking the tour title of the YOU LOOK GOOD Rider’s Cup slopestyle tour…these two maxed out their complimentary vacation by extending their stay in central in Central America by a month!  A sincere thank you to one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met, Olivier Dubois of El Dorado – a true example of a committed, multi-talented and passionate entrepreneur.  The hospitality and personality of Olivier and his female partner Mau took the experience over the top.  A week celebrated with old and new friends in a part of the world very few get to experience and even fewer from outback of a surf break.  Thank you for the lifelong memories and we look forward to your continued support of our National Freeskiing and Snowboard Tour in 2012 and YES we’ve already secured TWO-WEEKS at El Dorado in 2012!!!

Final photo highlights (PS not much surf photos as it’s pretty difficult to capture with an i-phone)

Jon V is the most energized and talented individual on the trip – a surprising site as he rarely took time out of the water or mini-ramp

The El Zonte Beach-scape that ever changes with the tide – once black sand now littered with stone which makes an interesting sound when shifting with the tide or when you’re trying to exit and navigate while getting crushed from the wash…

With high-tide comes the need for daily maintenance….

This menu board stirs great excitement mid-day in anticipation for dinner…..

Final good byes…..

Even with his own paddle and tournament ball Oli couldn’t take Ping-Pong champ from Nate Laverty.

Thanks again for everything Oli – you deserve the best and a world of success!  See you next year (I’m buying a paddle and training so look out)

A mega post is needed as the past few days have zipped by… Wednesday surf was the biggest yet, we went down the coast to El Sunal and played with a point break – we had to pay $1 to the owner of the restaurant to walk through and avoid the 10min rocky beach walk which was well worth it.  A 10 min paddle netted you with a bounty of surfing options. Wednesday ended with an unfortunate incident where D Wright fell 9′ from a penthouse bunkhouse to his side & head at 3am….staying with him through the night and then making the hospital trip in the AM to San Salvador to ensure no internal damage, concussion, etc.  All systems clear except for some fractured ribs – if anyone can survive a 9′ drop it ’s definitely Dave.  The beginners in the group are now starting to log some official waves and everyone is getting the surfing vibe which will stay with us/them for ever!  Here are some highlights.

The peanut gallery taking in the set.

Kimmy getting some green waves!

Adrian with the master Ping-Pong Invitational grid….this a multi-day contest!

24-22 Sam moves on to Semi’s to meet Oli…

Remember – come for the surf and stay for the food – Day three done!

3:20am wake up call with Dave falling 9′ to the wooden floor – immediately unconscious, this was trully the scariest moment of the trip.  In the end the San Salvador hospital was a 10/10, professional, clean and efficient! $150 USD, 6hrs later with MRI’s, Ortho doctors and some prescriptions and we’re off to Burger King.

Enroute home we stopped in La Liberstad and grabbed some prawns fresh from the ocean…

Nate donated his GoPro to the surf but immediately felt better when offered a free coconut?

Frank McGuirck is know internationally for his love of National Geographic and ability to make friends….this one was looking for a sleepover.

An inside look at what makes Dave tick – everyone is glad that he is doing well and making progress.  See you tomorrow everyone.
